So maybe you’ve noticed there’s this thing I like to make... The cup is the most amazing little piece of art that fits in your hand and can make your heart do a little flutter. I didn’t teach workshops this year because I was busy being a small business owner, studio manager, wanderer, and whatever else, but I’m coming out of workshop retirement for 2019. 🎉 Keep your ears open for dates and locations (plural!) and come join us if you can do a little wheel throwing. We’re going to go down the rabbit hole of history, philosophy, form and function, and oh, we’ll make cups. 🙏🏼
From batch to batch, the evolution of design unfolds. Sometimes I wonder what a display of all my work would look like if I just focused on one narrow aesthetic. Just my copper vases, or just satin grey cups. It would probably be nice. Life is complicated though; not so neat and tidy or easy to box in. That’s what’s exhilarating. One foot in front of another, take a step and breathe. 😌 New slate coffee brewing sets coming soon!
In the Mediterranean climate of central California, citrus season weighs down the branches of trees in back yards and city streets. Bowls of lemons overflow onto kitchen counters while little stands pop up on street corners selling bags of oranges to passers by. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Having returned home to frosty skies with a bag of Meyer lemons in tow, it’s hard not to linger in the kitchen a little longer before returning to the studio. Pots await, but maybe they can wait just a little bit more. ☕️ 🍋
